The original Mostar Bridge, built in 1566 during the Ottoman era, was destroyed in 1993 during the Bosnian War by Croat forces. It was a major cultural loss. The bridge was later rebuilt using traditional techniques and reopened in 2004 as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, symbolising reconciliation.
